Getting the opportunity to help my past client’s mother, who recently lost her husband, has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had this year.

Janet needed something to go her way, after the sudden passing of her husband, she decided to relocate from Memphis to Oklahoma City to be closer to family. Things only seemed to get worse back home and she couldn’t wait to get here. A flood in her house, a neighbor arguing and finally being sequestered for jury duty in a murder trial only compounded the stress of buying remotely.

The first time we met she said, “I want to you treat me just like you do your Grandmother.” She doesn’t know Grandma Shingleton or the fact that we have the greatest relationship there ever could be. But that simple request really struck a cord with me. And we set out to find the perfect place here in Oklahoma City.

After finding what we thought was “The One”, we were happily moving along but got word that the seller had a change of circumstances and was going to back out on selling the home. I got the call while at the lake for the weekend and was absolutely sick to my stomach to have to call and tell her of yet another setback. Rather than getting mad, we decided it was best to move on and realized it wasn’t worth a fight to try and force a seller who was obviously going through something hard on their end sell. I went into problem solving mode and literally jumped in the car and headed back home, driving straight to another house in the same neighborhood that coincidentally had gone on the market that day. I called her kids to meet me there and advised them that this was going to be “The One” for sure and we needed to act quickly. So, sight unseen, Janet entrusted me and get an offer prepared for her to sign and quickly present to the listing agent, that night, before anyone else had a chance to do so.

When she finally got a chance to see the house in person, she cried tears of joy and I knew that all was right and she would be perfectly happy here.
